The resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is foundational to our Christian faith. He is our living Saviour and High Priest who intercedes for us. “If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!” (1 Corinthians 15:17). Fortunately there is ample evidence available proving, without doubt, Jesus Christ existed, was crucified and that He was also resurrected. For example, the apostle Paul refers to over five hundred witnesses to Christ’s resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8.

Many would consider the New Testament alone, with its numerous eye witness testimonies, convincing proof of the life of Jesus Christ, but at least ten non-Christian writers also mentioned Jesus within 150 years of His life. These witnesses help to corroborate the biblical record, as many of them were still living when the Apostle Paul was preaching and writing his epistles.

If the facts about Jesus Christ’s life, death and resurrection were made up, both the Jews and Romans at that time would have discredited the accounts— but they didn’t!  We are also told in Matthew 28:11-15 that the guards, who brought the news of the empty tomb and Jesus Christ’s resurrection to the authorities, were offered a bribe to lie about what happened.

Without a doubt we can trust the resurrection of Jesus Christ really occurred. It’s clear that the early Christians and non-Christians did, and many of them were witnesses to it.
