The privilege and power of prayer

Prayer is speaking to and conversing with our Creator, and is one of the most important things we can do to develop a relationship with God.

It is clear Christians are expected to regularly communicate with God and develop their relationship with the Creator. During His ministry Jesus Christ set us an example in regard to prayer. His disciples noticed the importance Christ placed on His relationship with His Father in heaven and asked Him to instruct them how to pray. Luke 11:1 also mentions that John the Baptist taught his followers how to pray.

God hears our prayers and is interested in them. There are many encouraging answers to prayer in the Bible, and we can gain much understanding and inspiration from the wonderful examples of prayers in the book of Psalms and other places in the Bible.

Malachi 3:16-18 tells us God has a ‘book of remembrance’ made up of the prayers of those who seek Him. ...and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name. ‘They will be Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.

God wants us to come to Him as a beloved parent. We should feel confident, understood, appreciated and loved in coming before Him. The habit of daily prayer is the most effective way of nurturing a growing relationship with our Creator.
