Samaritans in the Gospels (Part 2)

The Bible describes an encounter Jesus had with a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well which not only changed her life, but also affected the lives of the people in her village. This encounter is also included in the Gospels as instruction for us.

While travelling through Samaria, Jesus met a Samaritan woman at the well in Shechem, when she came to draw water. His encounter with this woman is described in John 4:4–42.

When Jesus asked her to give Him a drink, she replied: "How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?" (Jews do not share things in common with Samaritans.) Jesus answered: "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink', you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water" (verses 9-10). Jesus then told her that true worshipers would “worship the Father in spirit and in truth…(verse 24).”
