History proves Bible prophecy

Fulfilled prophecy is a major proof of the accuracy of the Bible and the existence of a great Creator God. God alone has the power to prophesy events and bring them to pass, exercising total control over nations and individuals.

The history of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah supports the accuracy of biblical prophecies recorded hundreds of years before the predicted events came to pass.

God chose the nations of Israel and Judah to set an example to the surrounding kingdoms and reveal His truth to the world. Unfortunately, Israel first of all rebelled against God’s way of life and succumbed to pagan practices and worshipping foreign gods. God sent many prophets to turn the people from their sinful way of life and warn them of the consequences if they did not listen. But Israel would not repent and the ten tribes were taken into captivity by the ancient Assyrians.

Judah did not learn from the fate of the ten tribes of Israel and then also rebelled against God, suffering a similar fate at the hands of the Babylonians. A hundred years later the Greek historian Herodotus (484-420) confirmed Daniel’s account of the fall of Babylon and the accuracy of the biblical prophecy.

The great prophets Daniel, Jeremiah and Isaiah predicted the fate of Israel and Judah as well as many other nations.
