Yes! Please Subscribe MeMany have wondered if there is other intelligent life in the universe, with surveys indicating nearly 50% of us believe some form of alien life may exist. The popularity of programs and movies like "Ancient Aliens," "The X-Files," "Dr Who," and "Star Trek" indicate many are intrigued by the concept.
A staggering amount of data has been collected and examined in the hope of detecting some kind of life out there, with governments and scientists investing billions of dollars in hundreds of experiments. A great deal of scientific knowledge has been accumulated, and amazing discoveries have been made, revealing the wonder and the majesty of God's creation, but life outside our planet has never been discovered.
The origin of the universe is described in the Bible. Genesis 1:1 tells us, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth" and Psalm 19 talks about the fact the heavens declare the glory of God and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. God made the Earth ready for life, and scientists agree physical life would not exist if certain constants varied even to the slightest degree.
The wonders of our universe give rise to the most fundamental question of all: Is there really a God or is life just a product of chance? No one expects to find life in the empty vacuum between the planets or the stars, on the hot surface of a star or within the crushing gravity of a black hole. According to science life is only viable on planets with a narrow range of characteristics, and there might be only a dozen exoplanets that could possibly be habitable.
The uniqueness of our universe and Earth is obvious in the laws of energy, motion, mass and matter, as well as laws of life itself, including the law of biogenesis. "Life can only come from existing forms of life." The Bible points to these very laws: "For since the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities, His eternal power, and divine nature, they've been clearly seen being understood from what has been made so that people are without excuse" (Romans 1:20).
Scientists propose that there should be between 1,000 and 1 million advanced civilizations in our milky way galaxy alone if the life sustaining qualities supposedly developed on earth through the process of evolution took place there as well. Astrophysicist Enrico Fermi recognized that problem all the way back in 1950 when he is famously quoted as saying, "Where is everybody?" with his question becoming known as the Fermi Paradox.
God Himself is an extraordinary extra-terrestrial life form of supreme intelligence, as Isaiah 57:15 points out, "For thus says the high and lofty one, the one who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy..." God has made deliberate contact with mankind in so many ways and for so many years. He appeared to Adam and Eve and the prophets throughout history, who recounted his words and some incredible interactions they had with him.
God also visited earth 2000 years ago when Jesus Christ came to earth to reveal the Father, and the plan and purpose of salvation for all mankind. We have been given irrefutable eyewitness testimony of His life, His death, and His resurrection throughout the New Testament. There is no doubt, we are the intentional creation of a loving God, who is reaching out to communicate and form a relationship with us.
Don't fall into the category described in Psalm 14:1 of “the fool” who “...says in his heart there is no God." Our destiny and purpose is so far removed from the meaningless view of life offered by evolution or atheism. Life without God and the promise of eternal life is a life without hope. God has revealed a purpose and a plan for humanity, a reason to exist that goes so far beyond what science has to offer.
