Excerpt:

Once you have established that very close relationship with Him, are you going to entertain something that is the opposite and contrary to what He says? I don't think so. This is one of the reasons we have the Passover.

...How important is this to Christ as to what it means and what He's saying is that there is a fulfilment. It means something. It is going somewhere and it has an object to it. The end is for you to be in the kingdom of God. So he's saying you need to make that connection between the symbols of His own body and being in the kingdom of God. He is going to, as it says in another place, sit down with His disciples in the kingdom of God. He is going to serve them, and they are going to eat and drink at His table.

As you and I come to the table of the Lord then, as it were, with the symbols that are blessed as Paul says in Corinthians 10 it is the table of the Lord, not the table of demons, not the table of falsehoods but the table of the Lord in which we say I am going to remain faithful and loyal to Jesus Christ, whatever that may mean and whatever that might take on our behalf.

Jesus thinks it is so important, that He is not going drink of the fruit of the vine, the fruit of the vine having to do with the blood we just spoke of, that it is not going to touch His lips until He is in the kingdom with them showing the fulfilment of what He is now about to do with them.

The Passover is about the kingdom of God. That is where it is going. This is not just something we do once a year to satisfy a command to take the bread and wine. This is going somewhere, and it has the result of what happens in that Passover, is your participation in the kingdom of God."
